We worked together to find and agree on an Active School Flag Slogan
We, in St. Fiachra’s are very proud of the strong partnership between parents, pupils, staff and community. We work together to make school an interesting, enjoyable and active place to be.
One of the strongest links with our school is our local GAA club, Whitehall-Colmcille. Three members of the Whitehall team visited the school in November to show us the trophies they had won and talk to the First and Second classes.
Whitehall P.R.O. Seán visits us every Tuesday to teach hurling and football skills to the student’s in our school.
Aoife also comes to teach GAA skill to our students
We had a very exciting day on 5th May when Dublin star Cormac Costello visited St. Fiachra’s. Cormac is a past pupil of our school. He taught skills and played games with some of our First classes. Everyone really enjoyed it. Thank you Cormac!
We really enjoyed learning the skills involved in kickboxing with Robbie, our local Kickboxing coach!
What clubs are you in?
In order to highlight physical activity opportunities in the local community, our second classes conducted a survey, “What clubs are you in?” Here are some of the results.
As you can see our second class students are an active bunch!
Local Sports Partnership
Our school emailed the Local Sports Partnership and the local Sports Inclusion Disability Officer to find out about opportunities for young people, of all abilities and their families to get active in their local community.
Parent and Pupil PE Survey
This year we also conducted a survey of parents and pupils to get feedback on PE and the Active School Flag process and in our school. The response was overwhelmingly positive and we have worked to improve any areas of concern.
Well done Wall
Many of our students have achieved great success outside of school in various sports. Have a look at our Well Done Wall.
