Grandparents’ Day

Grandparents’ Day We were delighted to have some grandparents from Room 22 visit our class today! We feel very lucky to have hosted them. Firstly, their grandchildren introduced them to the class. Next we sang the ‘Wake Up’ song. Then they answered some of our burning questions… What was school  like? Did you ever go on holidays? Are the prayers the same or different? What was it like when electricity.

Festive Fun

Christmas Carols The children worked really hard to prepare Christmas carols in the church for their families. Their performance was brilliant!   Santa Dash We had great fun chasing Santa around the school today. Thanks to all who donated to Focus Ireland.   Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year from Room 22!

Up the Dubs!

Up the Dubs! Today we were so lucky to have Evan Comerford, a member of the Dublin team join us in school! He brought the Sam Maguire cup with him which the great Dublin team have won for the fifth time in a row!

Hallowe’en

Hallowe’en This week we were learning about the origins of Hallowe’en, how it used to be celebrated and how we celebrate it today. Room 22 were the winners of the 2nd Class Maths Week competition. The competition involved guessing how many eyeballs were in a bag. There were 117 in total and our class had the closest guess! We learned a rap called the ‘Boneyard Rap’ and scared any visitors.

Country Study

Japan As the Rugby World Cup is currently taking place in Japan, we decided to learn a little more about the country. We read fact books containing information about Japan. Using this information we created a fact-file. From our fact-file we learned that children in Japan practice safety drills in school in case of an earthquake so we practiced an earthquake drill too! In art, we made traditional Japanese fans.

G.A.A.

G.A.A. Over the past few weeks we have been practicing our gaelic football skills such a soloing, catching and kicking. This week we started practicing some hurling skills such as passing a sliotar using a hurl, balancing and shooting. We are learning loads from our coach Seán and we’re really enjoying G.A.A.
