We had great fun on Thursday at our school parade to celebrate St. Patrick’s day. We all dressed in green, white or orange and we danced to Irish music and marched around the school.
We had great fun at the Ceolchoirm for Seachtain na nGaeilge which took place in our school hall on Wednesday. We were blown away with the talent from the students in our school. A special thank you to the teachers from the St. Fiachra’s Junior and Senior schools who also played and danced in the concert. There was lots of Irish singing, dancing, and music being played for the afternoon.
We had great fun over the last few weeks learning different Irish dances including Shoe the Donkey, The Military Two step and the Stack of Barley. Mrs Nolan has worked very hard for several weeks to teach all of the children in our school these dances. On Thursday we had a Ceili Mór in the hall where to got to do all of the danced we have been learning. It.
There was great excitement this week in St. Fiachra’s Junior school when Karl Mullen from Dancing with the stars paid a visit to our school. He, along with his dance partner Emily met the children of 1st and 2nd class and talked us about what it’s like to be part of Dancing with the Stars tv programme. They also treated us to a dance performance.
An bhfuil ocras ort? Tá ocras orm. An bhfuil tart ort? Tá tart orm. Ar mhaith leat do lón? Ba mhaith liom mo lón, más é do thoil é.
An Ceolchoirm Bhí ceolchoirm Sheachtain na Gaeilge againn Dé hAoine seo caite agus bhí sé ar fheabhas. Bhí dánta, ceol, amhráin agus rince le fáil. Bhí na páistí go léir go hiontach ar fad! Go raibh mile maith agaibh do na múinteoirí agus páistí go léir – chuir sibh an-obair go deo isteach sa cheolchoirm! Féach ar na pictiúirí thíos faoi. Ar gceoltóirí Na Rinceoirí Ár n-amhránaithe álainn.
For the month of March, we continued to work on the strand of ‘Dance’. Under this strand, we learned a number of folk dances under the guidance of Mrs. Nolan. Classes learned ‘Shoe the Donkey’, ‘Military Two Step’, ‘Siege of Ennis’ and ‘Staicín Eorna’ for example. Classes came together during Seachtain na Gaeilge to perform these dances in a school Ceilí. We also had a school Ceolchoirm. During this, lots.
We have been busy working on the strand of ‘Dance’ this month. All classes have been learning dances under the guidance of Mrs. Nolan. This will culminate in a ‘Ceili Mor’ during Seachtain na Gaeilge. Another addition to our school yards are our ‘Games of the Month’. This month we are focusing on ‘Cen t-am e a Mhac Tire?’ (What time is it Mr. Wolf). We have been very lucky.
